Tebbitts & Co Supports Sandbach High School’s Work Experience Scheme
Running a law firm is a varied and rewarding endeavour, with no two days the same. Lydia from Sandbach High School joined us here at Tebbitts & Co for a weeks work placement, and experienced various aspects of what working in a law firm involves. Lydia focused on legal marketing and communications as well as observing in court
Here’s Lydia view on her week with us:
For the past week I’ve been doing work experience at Tebbitts & Co, I chose to do it specifically at a law firm because it’s something that I’ve thought about for a while. I was excited to learn and explore into the world of being a solicitor and all the other aspects that go alongside the job. Throughout this past week at Tebbitts & Co, I have been able to learn all about the business and what it’s all about. As soon as I started my work experience here, I got a warm welcome from everyone here which made me feel very welcome to be a part of the team. I’ve done various marketing activities such as; direct mail, social media, business networking, and blogging on the company website.
One of my favourite parts of this week was going to the Crewe Magistrates Court with Ivy; it was very interesting as I witnessed a variety of different cases such as:
- A car accident
- Domestic violence
- Drug abuse
- Incident relating to Actual Bodily Harm (ABH)
Although they all seem straight forward crimes, when you start to hear the other side of the stories it becomes apparent that it’s a lot more complicated than that. However, the circuit judge dealt with each case professionally and promptly.
In the short time that I have been at Tebbits & Co Law firm, I have enjoyed myself thoroughly as I have learnt a lot and it’s helped me to think about what path I’d like to take in the future. As well, I’ve had a real insight into the job as I’ve learnt a lot along the way and gained a lot of experience from this opportunity. I just want to thank everyone here at Tebbitts & Co for letting me be a part of their team…I’m very thankful that you let me do my work experience here!
